Treatment for acute gout is Ibuprofen pills or a cortisone injection. Chronic gout is taking Allopurinol, Colchicine or Uloric. Gout can be genetic, overproducing uric acid or under excreting uric acid. Purines breakdown to become uric acid. Foods rich in purines are: red meat: beef, pork, lamb, duck and turkey, organ meat, beans of any kind, shellfish, all nuts, chocolate, any alcoholic beverages, bamboo, any kind of nuts, mushrooms, spinach and asparagus. That’s a long list of favorite foods!
Prevention: the best way to prevent a gout attack is to drink tons of water, alkaline water better it neutralizes the uric acid. Here’s a list:

Anything that reduces inflammation helps. Drink tons of water, uric acid can be excreted in the urine, cut down on caffeine, a diuretic. After the gouty attack stabilizes, try eating no more than 3 purine rich foods a day. When gout becomes chronic, uric acid crystallizes and forms tophi and becsomes a cyst.
